Making Spring Wreaths With my Sis...

My sister Deb and I felt like doing a little crafting this weekend and we both agreed we could use a new spring wreath for our doors. We had the same materials to use and I like how different they came out. Both very pretty:)

Time Well Spent..

Autumn has been here everyday since we've found out the my mom is terminally ill. We've been doing a little vintage Christmas crafting together.
I've made Autumn a banner that says A+K with hearts on each end with vintage music sheets. We've painted and glittered clothes pins to hang them on some silver garland.
We've painting houses and trees with pink, white, and blue paint with loads of sparkles for the mantel.
I've been busy with homeschooling classes and taking care of the family. We've decided to have transitional Hospice start next week. We had a couple of rough days last week and we all agree it's time. My mom is better, I guess we'll have good and bad days... that's to be expected.
My time is limited lately, seems I just barely keep my head above water. But homeschool classes are over this week for winter break and things should slow down a bit.
Hope all is well with everyone. I'm looking forward to having some down time to catch up with everyone soon:)

Wedding Cats~ Cake Topper

I've been playing around with some cake topper ideas. I just might make some to sell in my Etsy. This one is for someone special (a work in progress.)
The groom still needs a top hat and I just can't get a bow tie to look right yet... still working on it.
Perhaps I'll fashion a suit jacket for him still. I'm not sure about the mouse at the happy couples feet, it's from an old Mouse Trap game... he's just sitting there right now. Maybe I'll search for some cute little mice at Michael's craft store or make some.
I'm not returning to the preschool next year to work so I'll have more time to focus on the family, homeschooling and creating some whimsy. Yay!

Inspiration...

Stars and Stripes... and a few fire crackers!

I've always loved Country Living Magazine and when my July/Aug. issue came I was so excited to see the goodies inside. I found some inspiration to make a 4th of July center piece on their website... been wanting to create something lately.

I'm hoping that Brad will take us (Autumn and me) to the 2010 Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio this September. (He's one of those great husbands that will follow you happily along all day... if you keep his belly full.) If we go, we'll stay over night and go to the fair both Saturday and Sunday.
I think I'll have a yard sale this summer and make some money so I can do a little shopping at the most amazing antique and craft fair!

Pink Blossoms...

Lisa at Goose and Binky inspired me to make some Spring blooming branches. She saw some in a display window and made some for her mantle. Wrapped with baby pink yarn, a little glue to hold them in place. Sweet little buds.

I decided some blossoms would look cute too. I used the basic tissue paper blossom...the one we've all made in school. I used soft pink with yellow centers.


Harpo is such a curious guy... not much help with twigs and yarn.

Traps, Tins, Ahhh...Choo...

Noah and I made a Leprechaun trap yesterday. We saw this on the Crafty Crow. You see, if you are lucky enough to capture a Leprechaun he'll have to give you all his gold. Now there is a few things you should know about Leprechauns;

They are rule busters and they cannot resist temptation! Note the sign placed next to the
over-sized Leprechaun hat, it reads; Do Not Climb on Hat! Being a rule buster, he's sure to climb on the hat. See the gold bait placed upon the hat, being one that cannot resist temptation he'll climb on top of the hat to get the gold and KaPoWiE!!! Down he'll fall into our trap...hehehe!!!

Today Autumn, Noah and I went to the Creation Station and loaded up on recycled/reusable goodies. I found some empty Altoids tins and a wallpaper sample book that had travel themed paper samples.
I made this card carrier for Autumn. It's prefect size for credit cards, library cards, etc.

At the other day on Mountain Pulse she posted her daughter's stuffed virus creations, they were so cute! Noah has a bit of a cold so this is his "Common Cold Virus" He named him Ahh...Choo!!! He's made of muslin, I embroidered his face, add beads to the eyes and Noah painted him (which you really can't tell in the photo) a sickly greenish yellow with watercolors.

A Valentine gift for Noah

Valenstein; a cross between a Valentine and Frankenstein.

I started this last night around nine and finished him at midnight.

I stitched the whole thing by hand, he's a bit wOnKy.

But he's very soft and cuddly. Love in every stitch!

Ah...Ha! After years of failed attempts.

I've done it! I've finally figured out knitting. With the help of YouTube and Tara :) I haven't figured out the pearl stitch yet, in time! After first knitting with tiny needles and thin yarn...(not a good choice but it's all I had around the house.) I managed to make what I called a "mouse's blanket" With new bamboo needles and variegated yarn, I'm now in the midst of a cat mat for the animal shelter. One problem is the mats must be 20 x 28 inches. I squeezed 20inches on a 14 inch needle. Hmmm.... that seems wrong. But it's working out, I guess. I have so much to learn yet. Someday I'm hoping to be knitting mittens with snowflake designs on them! (big dreams) Thanks for the help Tara!
