Speaking of the earth...
Our Around the World lessons has taken us to Russia, China and now we've stopped in to visit Korea. We started with this sweet story called Peacebound Trains about a Korean girl and her grandmother. The grandmother tells about how her family had to leave the northern part of South Korea and head further south to Puson on top of a train roof during the war and leave everything behind. This was a really great book!
We discussed the war and how sad it was for the people there. I've told Noah of my Uncle Leo who fought in the Korean war and how our blog friend Wendy and her family are stationed in South Korea right now because the tensions between the North and South is still going on.
We learned a little Korean in this book;
harabujy=grandfather
harmuny=grandmother
oppa=father/dad
umma=mother/mom
yuh-bo=a term of endearment husbands and wives use for each other.
