just in case you're ever lost in the jungle.
Gather your supplies: a needle (or a piece of wire, or a paper clip that's been straighten.)
a magnet, a leaf (or something that floats,) some water, a shallow container for the water and a compass or two... to check if your homemade compass is working.
Magnetize your needle. Rub the needle with the magent 50 to 100 times in one direction only.
Now your needle is magnetized!
Pour in the water.
Float the leaf with the magnetized needle in the water.
Give it a few seconds to find North. It worked like a charm!
We used a mouse to point north so you could see the North direction.
Mouse not nessesary:)
Next Noah tired it with the bottle cap... worked again!
