We'll be reading The Secret Life of a Snowflake/An Up-close Look at the Art & Science of Snowflakes by Kenneth Libbrecht
Some of the activities we'll be doing this week: Catching & studying snowflakes with a magnify glass, making different styles of paper snowflakes, snowflake art, writing snowflake poems, building a snowman, making snowflake sugar cookies for our Homeschool group's Christmas party and of course after all that freezing cold studying going on we'll have to drink plenty of hot chocolate to warm us up:) This reminds me! We'll have to get our Winter Solstice ice candle made soon. The Solstice is Dec. 21st:) Stay Warm!

I've made this candle for the last two years... we light it on the solstice, Christmas and New Years eve. I just pop it back in the freezer between uses.

You know we haven't had a fun themed week here for homeschool in such a long time. I miss doing the fun creative stuff with Noah. We need to get back to basics around here.

Ah yes, Ina and it's a full lunar eclipse also... a very powerful and fascinating time!
The upcoming full moon, winter solstice and total lunar eclipse of this year will be extra potent and powerful alignment, due to our now close location to the center of the galaxy.
There was a full moon for the 2010Fall Equinox also, interesting!
