It took awhile but I finally got some pictures of them. They only come out a few time a day. They are starting to play and jump around a lot. They like to munch on the maple seeds. They are so... cute! I feel just like a grandma:)
Oh, they are so gorgeous!! I know the feeling too as our resident squirrel, Timone (who we thought was a boy but now know is a girl) became a mommy this spring too! Her nest is at the TOP of a tall palm tree across the street and we saw her trying to coax her baby down the other day. It was too sweet... she'd chatter, her baby would come to her tentatively, she'd reassure him, they'd come a little further down and then a car would come down the street and the baby would get a terrible fright and run back up to the top. The whole thing would start again... We watched for ages! So, congrats on being a Grandma!
Our favorite squirrel is now a mama!? How Sweet! I am sure there is never a dull moment of squirrel watching these days. I wonder if they will be as friendly as her mother. Congratulations!!!
Congratulations all the way around! They are so cute! Did you know they were on the way, or was it a surprise? Guess you'll be laying in a larger supply of peanuts...
Thanks everyone!!! I'm just tickled pink! I hope they will be as friendly as Sniffy. But on the same hand, I don't know how many more squirrels I can handle begging at the door for peanuts!
I had a suspicion that she may be pregnant. She was super cubby and had gotten nursing breast. I kept thinking would she get those if she wasn't nursing?! I kept a close eye out and finally spotted her with a baby in her nest. It took a long time before I could get a photo of them and to figure out there are three of them.
Sniffy has been super hungry and a bit quiet these past few weeks. But all in all, doing well!
they are gorgeous! I love squirrels (very exotic creatures to me down here in't Southern Hemisphere). Congratulations grandma! heheh...they are extremely cute.
I suspect they may end up following Sniffy's cue, and you'll find a family of peanut beggars on your doorstep. Which as annoying as that could be, has to be one of the cutest images. Ever.
We have some nests around the yard(and the neighbor's) but our dogs keep us from really enjoying them too close. Sometimes we get them on the front porch for the birdseed but they're definitely skittish(oh but they love to tease the cats though!).
ahhh do you like being a gramma. Just remember, ...as I give you a few tips. One, you will take so many photos of the new grandchildren it will eat up your memory....and two, as cute as they are, they will require a lot of one on one attention from gramma. They will want your cookies and your nuts, and just some sweet talk any time you can give it. They like to know ...each one, that they are the most special little squirrel. Of course you know that cause you have kids. But you will let them get away with a lot more than you would have let scruffy...
why did I call sniffy, scruffy...because next to these babies, sniffy is going to look a little different to you, kind of older and scruffier ...and also because I forgot Sniffy's name there for a minute.
LOL Congrats grandma! Bet you have lot of fun with the entertainment. I don't see many squirrels in our heavy woods except in winter. I love watching them gather black walnuts. I'm grandma too this spring, to duckies! lol

Welcome!
Hello!~Aaniin! ~Bonjour!
I'm a homeschooling mom with 3 kids. The two oldest have graduated from homeschool. Our oldest now owns her own Photography business. Our middle son is in college studying
Culinary Arts and the youngest son age 11 is an Interest Led Homeschooler, who loves history! and this is our family's homeschool journal... The Purple Squirrel.
We are an Ojibwe/French family and we love to celebrate our heritage, learning the language, customs and honoring our ancestors.
We travel about our lives on planet Earth and learn from every place, every person and every situation we happen upon. I like to refer to us as Earth Learners.
We read, write, discover, roam the woods, sleep in late, if we feel like it. We cook and do chores. We love to learn about different cultures and our elder brothers (the animals and the plants.) My job as homeschooling mom is to trust. Trust my kids will grow into intelligent, caring, responsible adults.
Fingers crossed! ~

wow so cool...how fun to have a family of squirrels living with your family!
enjoy!
Aw, so cute. We had some babies in our yard last year (under the porch roof, which wasn't so safe).

How did I end up not getting to name any of these either??
